Irish police shuts down police systems after malware infection

The Irish police network was hit by a malware infection. The Irish police were forced to shut down multiple systems in order to contain the malware infection. The Irish police states that no data was stolen. The police did not disclose which systems were hit.

The Irish times states that the Minister for Justice Frances Fitzgerald had warned that the police systems were vulnerable to cyber attacks:

The incident comes at a time when the force’s IT systems have be labelled by the Garda Inspectorate as decades out of date; an appraisal echoed by Garda Commissioner Noirín O’Sullivan and accepted by Minister for Justice Frances Fitzgerald.
